The picture above is one I am quite proud of, I don’t usually take selfies.
I don’t usually travel great distances by myself to see my loved ones, or even take the bus out of my hometown.
I don’t usually agree to visit unfamiliar places, or pose for pictures without my noice-cancelling headphones, if at all.
I am autistic.
I was born in 1998 and life so far has not been easy.
Before having been officially diagnosed with „Asperger syndrome“ at age 20, everything had been a constant, inexplainable struggle.
Being forced to mask my inability to function in social settings from
kindergarden on had left me with severe anxiety and depression, leading to a burnout so early in life.
Understanding why even the simplest things had always seemed so challenging, however, has greatly helped me regain joy in life as well as hope for my future, and that hope is precisely what I wish to share with you through this blog!
When we feel like the system has failed us, the one thing we should be able to rely on is community.
Although I do not have any degree or proper education in literature, writing has always been a passion of mine, and I dearly hope that my works might resonate with others. If you have ever felt like you just cannot adapt like your peers seem to be able to, if you ever thought that there must be some secret to the way the world works that you were just not let in on, or simply wish to gain an insight into neurodivergence, then this is a space for you!
